Mon. night wasen't much fun. I cut out on some deer and Raven ran them. But the shock collar wouldn't work. I'm sick of paying big bucks for the best and have it not work after a few short yrs. Turns out it dosen't work on the 2 highest settings. So I dang near had to run her over with the truck and lay her out with a stick. So next drop I cut her out 1st till she struck. Then cut out Pipper. Pipper hit a treed and layed out a few nice tree barks. The pup was tracking away and pulled Pipper. Sure enough the coon was in Pipper's tree. I was HOT. So I lead them up at the back of the woods. And took Pipper back to the area that she treed to coon. She went off and ran an old track instead. And ended up out on the field foever away. It was cold and the wind was whipping. I was not happy, she wouldn't come to me calling so i had to go get her.

Last night I had a guy come to try out Raven. We cut her and Pipper out they struck pretty fast. It was cold and crusty. The swamps were all iced up. They treed in a hey bale pile. So I pulled them out and let them go a few yrds away. They hit another track real fast. It took them a while to work it but they treed right at the edge of a swamp. And had the coon. Raven treed real nice and looked pretty good. So we took them to a little woods where Raven struck 1st in the front of the woods. Then Pipper in the back. The met in the middle and worked the track. It was real old and the had a hard time. They went out in the corn stubble and I called to them cause they were getting to close to the St. Rt. Raven came in but Pipper did not. I lost Pipper all together and had to go looking for her. She made her way back to the rear of the woods and got treed. She had the coon sitting there. The guy gave me money to hold Raven for him, he's supose to come and get her at a hunt i'm going to this weekend. So now I can spend more time with Pipper and Whiskey. And Start training Rain too.

Thanks Bigfoot!
Well I took Pipper by herself tonight. !st drop wasen't good she work a track in the same area for a ong time before she gave up at the bottom of a den tree. 2nd drop was much better she hit the woods running hard on a fast track. The coon took her right into the swamp. It's a pretty big swamp for OH. She worked it back and forth so I finally walked out into the middle of it to keep the coon from going back across it. Team work you could say. Soon after that she pushed it up a tree. It was a mess up there. Lots of grape vines and tangled mess. I never did find the coon. But I did see it's wet little paw prints walking up the tree. We called it a night, Laura has to go to work in the morning so she wanted to go home. Don't know if i'll get to go tomarrow night. Our Phesants Forever Banqit is tomarrow. We love going to it we always have a blast.

Well we had a big show and hunt Sat. It was fun. Didn't do any good at either. Rain showed good, but got beat buy a good dog. Whiskey wouldn't gait on the hard wood floors so he never had a chance. The hunt wasen't much better. I hunted Pipper and an hr into the hunt she came in heat. So I had to with draw with 100+ pts. The cast winner ended up with 25+ and a 5th place finish in the hunt. But it was a good cast of people. Bad weather snow sleet and rain the whole time. Back to the grind to night with Whiskey. His foot is all healed up now!

I soaked his paw in Epson's salt 3 times a day and then put drawing sav on it. Which brought it to a head in 2 days. Then I put triple anitbiotic on it and proxcide on it for 2 days. It healed real fast. Really in a week from when he did it it was healed. I gave him a few more days I didn't want him to bust it open again. You can't tell anything was wrong now other than where I shaved his fur off his paw. I've never used cut and heal, but I have used bag balm before. Thanks Tim!

Well I got another dang head cold. This dang weather won't makeup it's mind. At the hunt Sat. it was rain sleet and snowing the whole day and night. Last night it was 43 out and alsome. I wise it would get warm and stay warm. this back and forth crap is killing me. How are you feeling by the way? I took Whiskey out last night by himself after being layed up for a weeik and 1/2. He looked pretty sad the 1st drop. After 45 min I pulled him off and went some where else. He kept running the track in the same like 30 yard circle. Half in tall grass and brush and along a tree line. I've never seen him look that dumb! Next drop took him 20 min to get treed. It was a den But I saw the coon. He still didn't look great. So I made one more dump with 5 or 6 deer standing in the field along the woods. I walk him past where the deer where when I drove in and cast him right in the woods. He went in and found a coon track. Then he moved it to the other side of the woods in a field and fast. I thought OH NO he is running a deer. But he ran it to another patch of woods that is pretty much all swamp. The spring peepers were so loud I couldn't hardly hear him in there. But he got treed and had the coon. It took him 20 min again. I think he'll get faster the more I hunt him alone, I hope!

Tool ol' Whiskey out alone again last night. Now he look good right from the 1st drop. Cut him out and he was treed in 1 min 30 sec. Had his coon sitting right there. Cut him out off that treed and in a few min. was treed again. This time it was on a snag den, i couldn't see the coon. Cut him off that and he ran a good track all the way around the the woods through the corner of another woods down a treeline back into the 1st woods and put it up. The big ring tail was sitting atop the tree as high as it could get. I made him tree for his 5 min like in a night hunt before I went in there to see. After that I was walking him across the field. Which I call the bowl. There is woods on 3 sides of this field and a fence row on the back side. When corn is on in here it's scary you can walk out and shine all the way around. Last yr I saw 11 coon sitting around it. Anyways He struck off the lead so I let him go, big mistake. He ran it fast and hard and got out of ear shot in a hurry. I waited a while and then headed back to get the tracker and started driving. Every once in a while I thought I could hear him. He was in a woods that was a little ways from the back side of the woods we were in. I think he pushed it in a hole. He was all muddy when I found him.
