Last night I ran Pipper, Whiskey and Raven. It was a good night. The old coon ran them pups through some nasty stuff to try and loose them. But they push through the thick briars and found him at the top of a tree along the river. By far the shortest walk i've made in months. Raven treed good tillI got there and then ran off. Turns out she's a little gun shy. But pulls you down trying to get to the coon on the ground. I think it's something I can fix in the next few weeks. I'm done killing coon now any ways. So will see if she starts staying tree w/o me carring a gun.

Took Whiskey In the Jar last night. coon just were not down. He finally grubbed one up but ran it a short ways into a bull dozer pile. Took him home and went out with a friend and his dogs. We won't get into it! Lets just say he's got two nice PETS!

Whiskey and Pipper went on another coon hunt last night. !st drop put one up pretty fast in a big oak tree. 2nd drop put a fast track in a tile run and then 2 den tree's. But they stayed close and I didn't have to walk a mile all night. It was a nice change. Wish we could have seen a few more coon and few less holes. But it wasen't too hatefull.

Thanks, Spysar
Well last night was the end of kill season. I was done killing coon any way. But I hunted with a hide hunter last night in his river bottom. The dogs ran a real hot track across the river and got treed within 5 min of cutting them loose. Had a coon sitting on the out side of the tree. So the got one more to hold them over till next nov. Things are looking up, the tracks are getting shorter and the dogs are realy getting dialed in. After all that noise we treed on 2 dens and a cross over with a deer laying on the other side of the river watching us. Will see how things go tomarrow night at Whiskey's 1st night hunt!

Had a good hunt last night. turned out and the dogs got treed in 4 min. It was a mess up there and I couldn't find the coon. There was a fallen tree leaned up into another tree. Pipper climed way up in it before I could get there and fell out. I saw her collar as I was walking in and then herd here hit the ground and I took off in a dead run. I thought for sure as high up as she was she broke her leg. She seemed to be fine, just limped a little and has some blood on here foot. There was nothing below her, that might have been what saved her. I got sick to my stomach just out of fear. But she kept on hunting and they pushed another one up in the same woods after an 8 minn run. Had the coon right there where i could see it this time. So I took them to one more spot in a pasture woods. They keep cows in it in the summer. It's a neat little drop with grass tree's and a water hole. The ran one out of there around a big bean field and into the woods beside me. It was in a big ol den tree. So we came home. I did't want Whiskey to tired for the night hunt tonight and I have hunted for like the last 4 nights.

Well last night was Whiskey's night hunt premire. He held his own and was the only dog w/o minus points. But he was sitting under den tree's all night and one other dog got treed alone with a coon seen. But I was happy with him. I still see things we need to work on, but I think were right were we need to be for now. As long as he keeps getting better will be just fine!

Took, last night off, but got right back in there tonight. I don't much care for winter hunts in feb because it's usally in the single digets. But with the unusal warm weather it's been nice. Wet but nice. Tonight we got our second real good snow storm. But the 1st one in Nov. was cold and dry. This is real nice warm and wet. I love this kind of snow. We didn't get to see any up a tree. But I was happy to run 2 tracks. One behind a shop in a junk pile. We headed back twards my house and they ran another fast track across the RR tracks into a hole. The coon were not far from there hole but good enough to get something going. It was a fun night! Here's my friend Laura that braved the cold with me tonight. She wasen't happy about it but she did it!

Went ahead and went hunting last night. The snow is still powdery. Which is good, but where it has blown off the ground it is all ice. Which tears up the dogs feet. I hate to gie them sore feet now with the hunts starting up in a few weeks. But it looks like its going to stay in the 20's to 30's all week. Which only makes it worse. I wish we would get one of those warm ups to melt the ice off. Well the snow didn't keep the coon from running last night. Pipper did a nice job for the weather and lack of snow hunting this yr. They struck a track pretty quick. And ran it threw a creek. Which was about chest high for me. But Laura and I were already on that side. Well Whiskey decided it was to cold to cross. So he stayed there for 1/2 hr water barking. I was so mad at him. Pipper went on to tree. I had to cross the river. It was about knee high in one spot I found. She didn't blow the tree down cause she was to worried about him. But never the less treed. Then we crossed and she ran another good track. But it went back across the river and I lead her up. Finally he decided to run to the road and cross to the other side of the creek. They ran another track but took it to a real low spot in the river bottom. It all floods and it was iced up pretty good. So I lead them up and we went home. Pipper and I were a sheet of Ice. I couldn't hardly bend my knee's my pants were so froze. I let Pipper stay in the house last night to thaw out. She was a good girl!

Not as much as they would like to be worked. LOL. Them dogs would hunt all night if I would let them. But I haven't done any of that this yr. I usally start hunting all night in the summer on the weekends. But with the hunts this yr, I probly won't. Lets just say i've never had a dog beat me back to the truck LOL.

Lat nigt was cold, but they did a fine job treeing on one coon. I took Rain out with us and she ran a deer dang near before she even got out of the truck. Thank god for e-collars. It to 2 good zaps to get her slowed down. Whiskey and Pipper went to treeing and Rain finally came in to them. She showed intrest but they were on a small tree that went into a den. She she didn't want to jump right in there amoung them. Don't blame her they were really giving it heack. Form there they ran an old cold track that Whiskey took a few miles down the road into the river bottom. We got Pipper lead up in the woods we were hunting. Turned out Rain was in there too after we got the tacking system out. So I had to beat feet back deep in the woods to get her. She acted like she was working a track. I'm not so sure she really was. She just didn't want in trouble for not coming when called. Broke the handle on the tail gate of the truck. Then went for a drive to find Whiskey. He was working it slowwww. And came to the raod when I called. I think he was ready to go home too.

Last night we headed for the fence rows to give Whiskey some work on the fence's. They ran down one side and struck up a track pretty fast. They ran it a while to a little pice of woods, in a hole. It was a long hall to look at a hole. But you'll have that. they did a nice job running it!
