tuff i got to hunt yesterday evening,, a 6 point came out right behind a doe, then a spike and a button. too small to even consider. But they were together and the buck was acting interested, the doe didnt like it and I dont know where her fawn was.. it wont be long here.. Tim

You have GOT to be kidding me. Well here towards Abilene (not far from you in weatherford bro) I have not seen this rutting action..I mean..MAYBE a little...a few noses down and such..but does are not really skittish or anything like that. DAYUM...they better wait to go into FULL rut until next weekend if they are going to start this early...DOG GONE IT!!!

I have seen my intended target a few times this summer and I hope he makes a mistake...we will see, knowing he was staying in a certain area I have refrained from getting anywhere close to it.. NOWS THE TIME!!

Our rut generally starts the 3rd or 4th week of November (give or take a week) if they are already in rut now (and I have not seen sign of this on my lease..which is about an hour from Weatherford) it will be by far the earliest I have seen even a soft pre-rut take place in the past 5-6 years. Man I hope they are not in rut just yet...pre-rut and rut on my lease are incredible. I can rattle in some BRUISERS..and with a few scent boms put out at the right time..man they come a runnin.
Fingers crossed they have not reached that point in Albany yet..PLEASE LORD!!!

Hey Texasrack , the lease where all the action is is just west of Newcastle on the brazos river, north of Grahamn. We have been getting trail cam picks of bucks with broken main beams for over three weeks now, IT IS WAY EARLY!!!!! I will give a full report when I get back on Sunday night, I even heard from a frend that hunts the concho river south of Lowake, by San angelo that the pre-rut is warming up and the younger bucks are pushing doe.. All this cool weather has them worked up..

The one buck that I saw about a week ago was up on his hind legs rubbin his forehead on an overhanging branch. An early sign but I'm not too sure he was "silly". I think we've got about another week before they really hit a good "pre rut" then about a week later they'll start chasin and then about a week after that they'll be full blown rut! I'm hopin. We have a strange rut here in NY. You never can tell and/or try to predict anything. Sometimes I've seen deer taken that have had fully swollen necks in the third week of Oct and then another from the same exact area that hasn't even started to swell and then there's years where the rut hits on and off again all season and all depending what part of the state... very hard to "pin point" around here.

Thanks and DAYUM it all in the same breath. Already breaking mainbeams..so they are already sparring..SOB!!!
Keep me posted brother..please. I got almost a full week left before rifle season and already packed up the Bow for the year.
CRAP CRAP CRAP
Of course if they are pre-rut already, then they should be in full rut right about opening weekend..which is not BAD either I guess..but I sure hate missing out on prime time rattlin'. One they are in rut I ease up on the rattlin' quite a bit.

I didnt post this earlier because I thought yall would think I was more stupid than I am. I heard some bucks sparring yesterday,, I am sure but the wind was blowing the sound to me.I tried grunting and used the can,, but nothing moved till right before dark. I saw 3 with a doe and the 6 point was following the doe, she kept running.. as far as the rut goes I have seen it here as early as the week before thanksgiving and seen it on Dec 7 usually the week before thanksgiving.. I was real close to a couple bucks sparring last weekend at hagerman around Denison, Tx. At my lease just east of sulphur springs tx the rut seems to be from thanksgiving into the first week of december. On my arkansas lease close to sheridan the rut seems to be full swing the second week of november to thanksgiving.
