Go To Gun??.....hard choice between two, but I would have to say my Rem 7mm w/Leupold mount.....been on most of my deer hunts, and is tried and true!!! It is nice to see a 6.5X55 has been mentioned here though!! I bought three Swedish Model 98 Mausers 'bout 8 years ago, gave two of them to huntin' buddies, and kept one. Standard military form...straight bolt, open sight, but that sucker will shoot, and it's dead on!!!

It all depends on what I'm hunting. I go after everything from woodchuck to moose and a lot inbetween. On the smaller end it's a .22-250Rem. For the big guys I prefer my 7mm Rem. Mag. I try to keep all my rifles sighted in so whatever I'm hunting my rifle of choice becomes my favorite gun for the occasion. Best wishes.
