Both nice rifles guys!!
We can't rifle deer hunt here, so i grab the 243 win model 700. Just one of those guns that have never failed me.From crows, fox,coyotes,G-hogs,skunks.When it barks it's lights out. And thats one of my oldest rifles too.I have a savage 223 that i have been paying alot of attention too.Busy at the bench working loads, fine tuning. It just might take over in it's place

For me its my Ruger M77 in .270 Win. Just put a new Nikon scope on it last season, still drivin' tacks with it since '87. Love that gun, wouldn't sell it for nothing, it would make me feel way too guilty!

For me its my Savage 110 in .270. I got a simmons Deerfield scope on it, and I love it. First rifle I got, and I think its the best.

I built a 7mm STW back in '97 when I was deer hunting exclusively in GA and it has been my go to rifle since. I've taken animals from 20 yards to over 500 yards with this gun; never fails. This year, living & hunting here in Fl, I'm going to hunt with my newest gun, a 284win bullpup. All my deer rifles wear leupolds.

for me it is pretty straight forward for me. i got to buy my dream gun and that was an encore and the original barrel was a 25-06 and for me it just didn't shoot the same i was used too so i sold the barrel and went back to my all time favorite barrel a 308 and this weekend i got to get it bloody when i was on my first ever ram hunt. i got my ram within 40 to 50 yards laid the crosshairs on his shoulder and let her eat and my old 308 was the only one of the rifle shooters to put a ram or goat down without any worries and not have them run from me. i want to thank my friend bea175 who did some loads he does for his 308 and i was shooting a nosler 150 grain ballistic tip. when we got him opened up i had turned the heart and liver to soup. that is my round for medium animals and for my larger animals i am going to use the nosler accubond. being the barrel was new i got to bloody it and get it ready for gun season in oklahoma best round i have ever found too and including my stint in the military the 308 to me is the best round i have ever shot rob k

For many years my favorite rifle was a Remington 700BDL in 7mm Rem. Mag. caliber. In recent years that has shifted to the 6.5x55. I took my moose with it last year. It packs enough wallop without turning the shooter into a spastic cripple. I have it in a Remington Classic. The accuracy is comparable in both calibers, and I see little difference in game getting ability. We, in N.America, have been kept in the dark for too many years about this caliber. It's an excellent one. Just one mans opinion. Best wishes.

Hey WinMag I use the Nosler 120 gr ballistic tips for Varmints and predators and the 145 gr. grandslams for white tail. I am 60 miles straight east of the twin cities I am in Boyceville. Jimmy

Like rob k, I like my .308s.......both my M1a & old Win Model 100.
But if told I only have 1 shot to take, 125yds or less, I'm grabbing my Knight USAK muzzleloader........it never misses and I've never had to track anything it hit.

Since the burglary I mentioned before, I had nothing at all so a friend brought me a sawed off .410 with 6 inches of barrel and no wood. He found it in an attic of an empty house he was working in. It was wrapped in a piece of carpet. Later I bought the .38 snubnose and traded it for the s&w 12ga. pump both were sold for fishing gear. Now that I have my 20ga. back, it is my ONLY gun so I guess I go to it! ! Since I have not hunted anything but hogs since the burglary I would say home protection is what I think when I read the title of the thread. For that, these 5 bulldogs will handle the light work! ;)Here is my 20 the way I lost it. The scabbard was not mine but the cop lady made sure to tell me she wanted me to have it! Brent
