Back a few years ago I was able to finally get a buck that I would consider a wall-hanger. I had went scoutiing a new place that I had ben thinking would house a few good mature bucks. It was the first week of early muzzleoader season here in VA an instead of hunting I grab a treestand and took off up the mountian. got to where I wanted to start looking an started finding some good sign. found a good tree over looking some hot trails and hung the stand. I didnt get to go back for 3 days to hunt it. well the morning that I had planned to go, I over slept so I took my time getting there because it was very windy that morning anyway as I was walking in an I told myself that I was not shooting just an average buck that far back in the mountians (just not worth the effort to get it out.) I was about 200 yards down the ridge from my stand when I spotted a nice 6 pointer with his nose to the ground tight!! I grunted at him with no response, I figured he was on a hot doe so I decided instead of going to my stand I would hold tight for awhile and watch that trail.. not 3 minutes went by I heard a grunt .. then another.. yep here comes a buck!! his nose was tight to the ground then his head finally cleared the brush and WOW THATS WHAT I'M HERE FOR!! I knew where he was going so I got ready to take the shot as he followed the same path the 6 pointer did he came threw a clearing and I pulled trigger on my knight muzzloader and thats all she wrote!! I got my first WALL-HANGER!! Man I will never forget walking up to him an seeing those horns sticking off the ground!!
I went back to hunt the stand that I had hung a week later in rifle season. this time I woke up on time and made it there well before daylight. Man it was cold..... about 10:30 I heard something coming up the mountian an to my amazment ANOTHER SHOOTER!! This time my 300 win mag cracked the silence of the morning and now I got 2 wall hangers in one season.
up untill that year I had only killed decent bucks but nothin like those two. Man that was a good year in the deer woods.
