Visible now and WOW what a trophy ! Any story on the hunt for that deer ?

Well, I hate to say it but there wasnt much of a story to it. The year before I killed this deer we had seen a monster in this particular woods, (but always from a distance.) Had seen big tracks around also, and lots of people told me they had seen a monster around there. Well, on Nov. 2, 2004 I got off work early and headed for the woods. I pulled up to the woods at about 1:45 and it was drizzling rain. I walked back to the tree row I was hunting and got climbed up in my stand and looked at my watch......right at 2:00. I got my bow ready, put on my gloves and face mask, turned around and there he was.....only 15 yards away. He started to walk the other way and got almost out of sight and I finally got my grunt call out and gave him a few soft grunts. Thats all it took because he came right back to me and I shot him at about 10 yards. After shooting, I sat back down and looked at my watch again.......2:11! My brother was with me and he couldn't believe it when I came running up to him....he wasn't even climbed up in his stand yet!

Even though he was only 10 yards away when I shot, I guess my nerves got the best of me because I hit him a little farther back than I had hoped for and he went a long ways. We looked all that night in the dark and finally decided to let him lay for a while. We went out the next morning, picked up the trail, and walked for another 3-4 hours before I finally stumbled up on it in a tree row....couldn't miss the rack towering over the undergrowth!

Thanks all for the comments! Its been two years and I'm still stoked! Was after one of this size last year but never got in range.......well, it did once but I didn't have an arrow in my bow yet considering I'd just got to the base of my stand. Hopefully he's still around this year! I saw him several times at a distance and my brother missed it once.
