I would like to thank "Sloopy" for putting these pics of my turkeys on this thread. Its a good thing that I am a better shot then trying to figure out what to do on a PC ...I was hunting with my friend from Pawnee Rock, Kansas on his wifes in-laws farm that I was given permissonto hunt on. He said that it was quiet and no-one had hunted there yet. He set me up on a ridge in a small building(knelling down) that I think was used to shelter hogs! The turkeys always came from the West up this ridge and down to the cattle feeding trough. All I had to do was sit and wait!! ;DI was trying to get comfortable while kneeling on bum knees and looking down I saw a huge snake skin! I was paying more attention looking for a rattler than I was a turkey! Next to my head(close quarters) in the roof were tiny nail holes and one kept blinking!! I got eye to eye with the hole and it was a hen looking in at me!! I jumped up and hit my head a crack on a 2 X 4 and the whole flock took off-thats what they told me from the farm house! When I settled down and got back to business, I could see a jake coming back when I made a hen cluck call. He ran right past me while I was kneeling so I tryed to back my fat a$$ out and take a shot and then saw heads coming up (back) on the ridge! There I was caught with the jake eye balling me a big Toms coming my way! I knelt perfectly still and waited while birds were passing by me on the left and right! A big Tom strutted out in front of me at 35 yards and I couldn't stand it anymore. Fired and turkeys were flying in every direction!! Looked out and saw this Tom flopping around and by this time my friends son came running as he was back at the farm watching this whole thing thru his glasses. Steve picked up my Tom and gave it to me while I was stranded tippy-toe over a barb wire fence ;D He stood back and was going to take a picture of me that way when old Tom came alive or his death throes with me holding this Tom by both back legs! Good grief!!! Its funny that I don't have a shrill voice after this fiasco!.........Turkey Number two the next day was almost the same except I wasn't looking for a rattler and I didn't pick up the Tom until I knew he was dead-dead!! This was in 1995 and the next Tom I got was at Rich Randell's (kokvik) CCC in Marion County in Arkansas and that is another tale. This happened last spring and I FORGOT the lesson that I had learned in Kansas! Will tell that Arkie tale later but once again, Scott, many thanks for posting this for me. You da man!!.....Bill............NOTE: the small ridge in the background is where the turkeys marched on!!

Bill, Great pic's. I'm a little worried though about your penchant for picking up live birds. Don't you know those things can hurt you? ?? Rich

Thanks, Eric, and the best of luck to my team-mate of the Trophy Trackers! ;D ..You are a legend to me with all those great bucks and with a bow to boot! I know how hard it is and only wish I could do it but due to physical problems--can't but will try with my new cross-bow with Rich at CCC!...I would just like to get ONE monster whitetail before I cash in! Guess thats why one keeps on hunting!...Hope you get a BIG Tom...Bill
