This spring. I will start with the Youth hunt in Ky, April 7th & 8th. I may have to work the 7th however, but the 8th with certainty! Ky's official open season commences April 14th & may have to work that day as well! I will also use pictures to add realism to my Trials & Tribulations Journal of 07!

The talk centered more on hanging tuff, to try and rise above all thoughts of warmth as my daughter Tiffany(14) and i cutt the frigid air parkway bound towards Peabody WMA. Tho as a lifelong hunter i am accustomed to braving bone chilling temps in pursuit of deer, neither I nor anyone had any experience in tackling April temps that would make Janurary proud! Temps as we left the house at 4:30am had already dipped to 25. By sunrise, it was a sultry 22! Long story short however, we never heard a bird from the roost & only one thereafter. It clamed up when another vehicle skidded to a stop nearby. Going again in the morning & hopefully, better results!

It was a balmy 29 this morning with a heavy frost. But it was windless early as well as cloudless, so the sunrise was breathtaking. We heard 4 birds, none nearby & never got on one b4 he left for work! Gobbling ceased by 6:30am. Got one bird to gobble around 9am & we got too close. As we were setting up 2 decoys, we got pucked by a hen that came ahead of the gobbler & show was over. My bad there. Sorry Tiff, the ole man blew it! On to the Ky opener next weekend!
