Spent several hours out yesterday shooting the guns through the chono.figuring out the reloads.
Starting out with the 223
50 gr Hornady psp 20 gr 4198 3023 - 3058 - 3065
55 gr sp 21.6 3031
2917 - 2943 - 2962
60 gr Sierra HP 20 gr's 4198
2807 - 2867 - 2898
270 win
110 gr HP
3023 - 3047 - 3054
150 gr
2849 - 2867 - 2886
308 win
168 gr MGHP 39 gr 3031
2594 - 2614 - 2619
I just had alot of fun shooting stuff up, besides those guns we shot the SKS's the Bushmaster(brand new gun). What did we shoot you asked? Milk jugs fire extingisher propane tanks 2 bowling balls old weber grill.I know i have a lot of brass to sort through now.
i am real happy with the 223 it's hitting good shootin smooth
the 270 i could load a hair lighter to work in the 2700 f/s to work with the Drop in Sator on the scope, other than that,it's grouping really well.
The 308 i think i might heat them up a little more in the 168's and i want to buy some 200 gr bullets and run through the gun once

Glad to see that they put a reloading bench board on here. I reload, but only been doing it for about a year. So far my main reloading has been 30-06. I am setup to reload 30-06, 303 British, 8mm Mauser, 38 Special, 357 Mag and 9mm Luger. Right now I have a LEE single stage press, but want to move up to a turret press (if I can find one in my price range).
It is nice to be able to take game with ammo you have loaded yourself.
I hope there are others on here that reload and we can share experiences and advice.
Thanks to the Administrator and Mods for putting the reloading section here.

WinMag,
Right now I use IMR 4064 for my 30-06 and 303 British. For pistol Accurate #2 for my 9mm and my 357. Of course as posted I am just got started about a year ago and I spent most of my time reloading for the 30-06. I started out with the IMR 4064 because I could use it for the 30-06, 303 British and the 8MM Mauser my son has. I just didn't like the idea of having a lot of powder around the house, but now I realize that you have to, so you can have experimentation with different powder. Each powder has a specific characteristics.

Sounds to me like you learn fast WVHUNTER ...lol.. The first powder i started out with was the 4064 and Win 748.I caught some talk about a new powder that achieves the same ballistics as 4064 and shows less case over pressure signs. But i can't remember what the powder was. Something i would seriously consider is buying a chronograph. They are about $100,but worth it when you reload. You can see tyhe difference that even seating a bullet a couple 1000ths +/- makes in Velocities. For the average shooter it makes little difference.I like long range shooting and tight groups. And the chrono helps me achieve it,of course bullet choice primmers, case all play a roll in it too.Thats what makes it so interseting and keeps me at the bench. I reload for 222-223-22/250-243-270-308 and my 12 ga.

Wvhunter129, Just my opinion, but turret presses are fine for pistols where accuracy is not a primary concern. You remove a cap on one stroke and re-prime with the next. I, personally, want to clean out the flash hole on each brass I decap before re-priming. I also am very picky about powder weight & don't trust to just throwing the powder and assuming it's always going to be right. If you're not very careful, you'll be doing things so automatically that accuracy goes out the window. My 2 cents

Barreledaction,
You are correct about the turret press. That is why I still haven't decided to spend any money on one. Of course I was looking for the best deal I could find. But if I got a turret press I would probably only use if for my 9mm, not my rifle or 357 ammo loading.
Right now I have a Lee single stage press and an RCBS JR 3 setup. One for depriming and resizing and the other for bullet seating. I figure that may be the way I will stay.
I have a few buddies I work with that told me that if I want to really get good accuracy out of my ammo that I should invest in a chronograph. That will probably be my next investment before anything else.
Thanks for the opinion!

I've been reloading for about 3 years now. So far I'm making my own .308Win, .32ACP, .38Spcl, .357Mag, & .45ACP ammo. I've ended up with some very nice loads for my particular firearms. It's a great hobby. ;D
Right now I'm using the new Lee Cast press which is a great unit, especially for the price.
I got a Chrony late last year and it has provided a lot of interesting data to sort thru.............. but hasn't been a major issue in my reloading - just confirmed some theories I had about some of my loads.

I have an old Redding T25, six station turret press. It works well enough for rifles as well as handguns. Just remember to not turn down the top too tight. A fairly loose fit will allow it to self-center. It's a bit less concentric than my Rockchucker but not much. I've really grown to like this old rascal over the years. Best wishes.

In hind sight RCBS should have called the press a Chuckrocker,It's got a little more of a ring to it i think, and a damn good press in it's own rights IMO

Little by little I've been getting away from presses altogether. I reload for 11 different calibers and mostly use Wilson NS knock-out dies. I use them with a little rawhide mallet. They do an excellent job, and the runout is minimal. I don't care which reloading press I used I was still getting some degree of runout It became quite irritating. The Wilsons aren't perfect, but they're pretty darn close. Best wishes.

I have never tried the knock out dies,i've always used RCBS chucker presses. The case trimmer is the only thing thats not rcbs,it's a lee's i believe. It's good to get away from the world in the reloading room for a couple hrs.

Hello Everyone,
I'm a new member and am delighted to find a reloading forum here. I guess it's where I'll be spending most of my time. Best wishes.
