Does anybody have any good loads for the short barreled Scout Rifles? A friend has one and is looking to reload for it.

A load that works great for me in my M1A (which ought to work pretty well in the Scout as well) is 43.0gr of Varget with a 165/168gr bullet like a Sierra GameKing or the Barnes TSXs. This load uses heavier Mil-Spec brass, so if using commercial brass like Winchester, Fed, or Remington, you'll want to up the charge to about 45gr to compensate for their extra case capacity.
This load is comparable in accuracy, speed, & consistency with Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr ammo..... about 2550fps out of the M1A.
Another load to try is 41gr of 4895 with the same 165/168gr bullets - upping the charge to 43gr if using commercial brass. This is kind of a Universal .308 target load, close to Fed GMM as well.

The Federal Gold match loads is what i shoot.I loaded them up to 2700 ft/sec though.I haven't run other loads in it yet. They shoot to good to change yet.Though i want to load some varmint loads for it this fall.Haven't used it on dogs yet.
Got some 110 gr HP loaded for the 270 pushin 3200 ft/s

Your barrel lenght is not that much of a factor, just use regular reloading manual specs! vangunsmith
