Thanks for posting that link. I just got a MEC 600 JR a few months ago so I can get into shotshell reloading. I have been reloading for my rifles and pistols now for about 2 years, but wanted to also reload for my shotgun. Don't let anyone tell you that reloading doesn't save...it sure does! Well fellas, hello!! I have been rloading shotgun shells since 1956 and have still a Mec Model 250 when they had stamped serial numbers on the press. slugs are sold for those whom wish to reload them.I have found that a lot of money can be saved on shells by reloading, and reloads if one studies some.can find loads that are a lot more effective in every way from factory shells. For those whom wish to reload, and or do reload them here is a website of a outfit thats dedicated to shotshells only. Everything one could need they have, and plenty of books as well. the web is www.ballisticproducts.com Hope i helped some of you out there. vangunsmith

wvhunter one thing nice about the 600 jr. I mounted mine on a 2'x2' peice of plywood and take it to the feild when we shoot clays and reload on the spot. Also have taken it to South Dakota pheasant hunting to reload in the motel room.Kinda nice when they are small enough you can pack and haul them around with you

wvhunter do you have a few charge/shot bars and Bushings to load different shot loads?
Like 7/8 - 1 - 1 1/8 - 1 1/4 0z What kind of powder are you going to use to reload with ? You loading for Field or trap shooting, Both ?
A word of caution to you.Watch for stray BB's in the priming stage.Sometimes one will find it's way into the priming die.And if you try to seat the primer, it may set it off in the press.

WinMag you got me I have a Shuttle Bar Model "C" for the shot...it has the micrometer dial...but the powder side you have to put the bushings in. Right now since I am just getting started the only bushing I have for powder is MEC 34 bushing. I did some reading and see that I need to get other bushings for the powder so I can have a varity. When I got the MEC 600 it came with a 302/118 charge bar with the MEC 34 bushing. Then I got the Shuttle Bar...but I thought I was getting the one with the micrometer on both the shot and powder, but when it got here it was only for the shot. Like I said I got some more reading to do and also save up some money to get some additional things. Any suggestions as to what to get and where? I plan on just reloading for the field. Mostly 2 and 3/4 inch shells. I can load some 3 inch since my 870 Express 12 gauge handles 3 inch. Also, thanks for the warning...I will make sure that doesn't happen. I will check back and see what suggestions you may have for me.

I've reloaded slugs for a while now. I have an hourglass shaped slug in 525gr. The data I have came from the Lyman slug reloading section in their shotgun manual. Chamber pressures differ a little bit depending on what primer or/and brandshell you reload with. Most are not too far apart though. As with all reloading- start lighter and work up to find what works best for your gun.Never go over the max listed. Modern guns may take it but why chance it?
