I spotted this deer on the edge of a hay field. So I snuck around the field and came over the top a bank. She was about 15 to 20 yards under me. I shot her in the front of the left shoulder and I found the bullet in front of her right rear leg I was useing my new S&W 329 in 44 mag with 240 XTP bullet

Thanks for the congrat guys. I didn't even realize there was such a sunset when we took the pic. It was a fun hunt and with a pistol that I got new last week!!!!!!!! I didn't have much time to practice with it, I just sighted it in and started hunting.

Winmag This is the first deer I've killed with a 44 mag in close to 20 years. (I've used the 45 colt and 454 casull for all my handgun hunting) The deer ran almost 150 yards with what I considered a "good" hit. She was facing me at about 15 to 20 yards and I hit her on the point of the left shoulder. I later found the bullet right under the hide at the front of the right rear leg. The bullet went thru at lest 2 1/2 feet of deer! It clipped both lungs and went thru the liver!
The HP on the bullet was nowhere to be found and the bullet looked almost like a hard cast bullet, with hardly any expansion at all. (just the jacket peeled back some) I got plenty of penatration for sure, just no expansion. I guess you could say it did the job, because I got my deer!

Me & a buddy were hunting out of 2 different stands, 100 yards apart where trails led from a woods into a field at different places. A nice buck actually came walking down the field edge, right in front of him & he drilled it from just behind the right shouder, down through & pulverizing the heart and out low in front of the left shoulder. He was shooting a 1 & 1/4 ounce, 3" mag 12 gauge slug and/or the equivalent of a 547 grain bullet (more than twice the size of a 240 grain 44 mag) and that buck ran right at me and went over 75 yards before it fell dead. I was absolutely amazed when he gutted it and I saw how bad the heart was pulverized. It just goes to show that they are powerful animals indeed.
