I was just wondering if anyone has any quick reloading "tricks" that they have come up with for muzzleloader hunting over the years that you wouldn't mind sharing. I myself keep a couple of the quickie load tubes that I bought at Walmart clipped on the outside of my shirt or jacket.

I use the tubes as well. I keep a couple in one of those elastic shotgun shell holders that wraps around your gun stock. make sure you use the ones that are water tight.

I am for sure getting one of the elastic shotshell holders for my quick load tubes....that's a great tip!!! Thanks for sharing. I've got one of those on my turkey gun and I have one for rifle cartridges on my Remington 700. I hadn't even thought about using one for my muzzleloader quick loaders. ;D

Smokeybear,it depends on what rifle I'm using as to what tricks I might have .I'm very conservative and tend to loose things easily such as the reloading tubes which work great, so I use what I have on hand to speed up the process of reloading. For my knight I shoot a sabot ,I pre measure a load of powder and pour into an empty 35 mm film cannister which I then carry in the front left pocket of my fanny pack along with a couple of bullets. It takes the 209 primer so I place 2 of those in the capper and put in the right front pocket. For me knowing where everything is and practice makes me fairly quick at reloading. I also shoot a 58 cal cabine and a 50 cal hawken. The 58 is not always easy to find components for so I took a piece of hardwood 3/4 inch thick 2 inches wide x3 1/2 inches long ,drilled the proper sized holes completly through ,I then patch round balls I cast myself ,lubricate them and place in this block of wood, which holds 7 bullets. With my film cannisters preloaded and this block of wood loaded I hold the gun between my knees pointing slightly away from myself, grab a film cannister with my left hand, pull the lid off with my teeth, dump the powder ,drop it and go for the wood block ,lining a bullet up with the barrel I start it through the block with a bullet starter ,drop both of them and use the ramrod to finish seating the bullet.I have shot with some traditionlist ( flintlock shooters and history buffs) and they seem to just practice constantly and always place all their makings in the exact same place which makes them pretty darn fast.Although I never placed last ,I was never first either. I have also found that reloading after an encounter with a nice buck takes somewhere close to 10 minutes no matter how ready my gear is!
