I was just wondering what kind of ammo everyone preferred. I my self like the power belts. I've been shooting them for the past couple of years with outstanding results. I'll never load another sabot. But that's just me. What do you guys like?

I took my first 2 deer (at 39 years old) last fall using a CVA Kodiak .50 caliber and power belt hollow point bullets. (Don't remember what grain weight, and not at the house to look) One was a double lung shot, the other was a heart/lung shot. Both deer ran less than 100 yards. Both shots easily passed through with little expansion on whitetails. The exit hole looked to be the same size as the entry. I don't have experience with any other type of bullet... but with the results I got from the powerbelts, I don't intend to try any others.

Power belts and the similar type on the market are accurate and popular. but since were i moved to,its against the law to use saboted bullets.I found a great bullet and its really accurate with a lot of punch. Its the Hornady 240gr conical PA. Its pre lubed and just is a great bullet for use Muzzle loaders. vangunsmith

i voted sabot only because i never tried the powerbelt maybe i have been missing something here. i may give them a try. but the sabots shoot nicely for me. i have always made good clean kills with them they are what i have shot since putting down the smoke pole and ball bullets and picking up the in-line. i was a little slow in switching from musket caps over to 309 primers as well.

For me, the sabots made by Precision Rifle of Canada are the only way to go. Devastating on game and the 300gr QT bullets will cut dime -size groups for me at 75meters. Powerbelts are ok - but I've had issues with the copper-clad ones not expanding on the hogs I shoot, I don't feel that is in my best interest to continue using.

Powerbelts almost fall down the bore of my Knight 54's. Both are used for deer and hogs. I use Redhots.

I started using the Powerbelt in my T/C Encore with 150 gr. of Pyrodex pellets. A 300 gr. bullet with that powder load will hold groups for me at 200 yards with ease.
I even switched to them in my T/C Hawkins .45cal flintlock. They might not shoot quit as well as a roundball, but I'm willing to forfeit a little accuracy and get much better penetration, expansion, and devastation.
I've taken many deer with these bullets and swear by em'. Looking forward to emptying the .45 the day after Christmas on one...

I started using powerbelts but now I find myself leaning towards sabots. Although, if any real accuracy is required it's patched round ball all the way.
