I hope that you can shoot pyrodex in a sidelock, because I used to do it all of the time. That was until I purchased mt 1st smokeless front stuffer. I would personaly reccomend the H & R Sidekick for around $150. With the H&R or NEF if you ever want to upgrade it is much more simple.

Foxhunter! The sidelock will ignit the Pyrodex powder but it will not ignite the pellets as well . Pyrodex RS is all I've used in my sidelock for years/tt

them Muzzleloaders will shoot as far as ya want it too, I had a old Hawkin Hunter, 50 cal. 1 in 48 twist 24 inch barrel, shoot 100 gr. 2F Black Powder with a 250 gr. Buffalo Bullitt. I had a Harris By-Pod mounted on it and Hot Shot Nipple, and I've takin wild hogs at 125 yards, flat knock the tar out of them had a Lyman Peep Site and use this as a huntin rifle for a long time, but this was 12 year ago. One thing about a muzzleloader in the 26 yrs of shootin them, it will spit them bullitts or balls out and far as ya want, long as ya work a load for it, everyone eats differently. Good luck on findin one ya like for a shortie and lite one.

I purchased the CVA Bobcat in Oct this year and am currently Hunting Elk with it this month. I love the way it shoots. I was very impressed when target shooting. I had 3 inch groups at 80 yards with 100gr triple seven powder. Chased some elk around but the stinkers are elusive! I recommend the Bobcat. With another $75, you will have all the supplies you need. Good luck and have fun!
