My main hunting load is 44 grains of 5744, mmp sabot, 240 gr xtp. I took several deer with that load and one antelope at 180 yrds. All were pass through shots.

My current load is 2015 and the 375 SSB but I'll be working with N-120 and the Barnes 300 grain .458 this fall and most likely hunt with it....Most of my recent shots have been on quartering deer so I like the max of energy...

There is likely not a basic load better than VV-110/42gs,250SST.2335'/sec with usually <1" gps and little if any temp sensitivity.

After limited range time, and several problems at the range here are my loads for this season.
10 ML I 175 grain Devil supplied sabot 38 grain of 2400 Fed 209A under 2" dead on group at 200 yards This is my open field rifle, so 300+ yard accuracy is a must.
10 ML II 300 grain XTP mag Knight sabot 50 grains of RL 7 Winchester 209 2" group dead on at 100 yards This is my brush rifle and won't get shot over about 80-90 yards. It never has been nearly as accurate as mt 10 ML I with any load that I have tried. It also does not like Fed 209 A primers which are all I will use in the 10 ML I because they are the hottest 209 primer on the market

I'll bet-- that load has taken over 1500 head of deer in Henry Ball's hunting camp area alone, by muzzleloader, over the last 16 years. I guess it works?!?
