The guy I mainly hunt with had shoulder surgery about a year or two ago but never did rehab on it, so he can't shoot anything powerful right handed, he has to shoot left, which I must say I saw him hit a big doe right behind the shoulder left handed, but he said he is going to concentrate on bow-hunting, and I think that would be fun to start, so anyone know a good set-up to start bow hunting with?
Thanks in advance for the advice

The biggest and foremost piece of advise i can give you is to get a bow thats fits you,not you having to fit too the bow.If you buy a used bow.Make sure you get all the access. that come with it orig. You may need to change cams ect....If you buy new talk to the guy find out if he is a cert. Tech. for the bow you would buy.A good tech will tell you tyhe pros and cons of the different models avail. And when you do buy your bow from him he should set the bow up to you.Cut your arrows to correct length per your draw. And center tune the rest, possibly paper tune it.All this will help you when you go out to the practice target. As you will be able to accuratly hit your target.Instead of fighting to get the bow to shoot straight for you. That causes frustration and loss of confidence from the get go.
Hope this helps ......WinMag

Your not to far from Bass Pro they have some bow on sale right now you might head on up there and see if they can help you out. Try Cabelas too they have a good bow shop.

Another bit of advice is keep it simple with your first setup. Get what you need but don't get caught up in fancy setups. Once you get comfortable with your setup you can move into the more hightech stuff.

My recommendation would be to find a local shop and have them fit you with a bow. Tell them how much you are willing to spend outright. Then they will fit you with the proper draw length, draw weight, the rest will be center shot, etc. That is if they are a good shop. I have been to shops that don't give a hill of beans whether or not you are set up properly as long as they get your money. So my suggestion is that if you know anyone that bowhunts, get some opinions about local shops and give it a shot. The only thing better would be if someone you hunt with knows the ins and outs of setting up a bow and then you could buy a good used bow and have it set up by your friend... no overhead costs from a shop. Hope this helps!!!
