We don't have too many this side of the state. Out your way, years ago I worked for the DNR at Nabekogin Barrons for sharptail habitat restoration. I would like to see their population increase. I have hunted them only a few times, and they are as fun as "thunder-chickens".

I've only hunted Ruffed Grouse but where we go fishing up in that Chapleau Wilderness area in Northern Ontario we see quite a few, if I'm thinking of the right bird. They seem to sit a lot tighter than the Ruffed Grouse and/or I see them sitting in trees where I could thump them with an arrow & one of those judo points... That would be fun!

Hey phishy, you're right "spruce grouse" was what I was thinking of! They're awful tame as compared to the ruffed grouse.
