Might as well get this thing going. I was courious as to what most of the FOC (Front of Center) % was on other hunters arrows. I shoot a 28 1/2" Gold Tip XT with vanes and an 80 grain fieldtip and gives me a 10% FOC.
To Calculate your FOC measure your shaft's length, from the end of the shaft to the notch of the arrow nock where it contacts the string. Say that is 30 inches, Divide that by two to get the center point of your shaft, or 15 inches. Mark this spot with a felt tip pen.
Now place the shaft on the edge of your index finger, sliding it forward of the center point until it balances. This is the true balance point of your shaft. Mark this point. Measure the distance between your two marks and write down the length. Say 3 inches, Divide this distance by the length of the shaft and multiply by 100. This is your prcentage of FOC. In this case 10%.
Generally a FOC of 7-10% is standard for aluminum shafts and 10-15% for small diameter, lightweight carbon shafts. You can control your FOC simply by switching to a heavier or lighter arrow point.
It's always important to have a well tuned bow, but with a properly balanced arrow, you can achieve the maximum preformance from both.

I am right in there by my calculations... I have been shooting 29 inch terminator hunters by Carbon Express off my mathews,, mainly i shoot em cause of the weight, they are heavier than the average carbon so i get more downrange KE.. I have been shooting 100 grain G5 Montecs and have fallen in love with the head, it flies soooooo nice.. spendy but I sure love em..
