I was wondering, I put new strings on my bow which where pre stretched. How many times should I shoot before I really start fine tuning the bow. Should I hold off on paper tuning even now the strings are pre stretched? thanks Steve

Most manufactures advertise they have prestretched strings, but in reality they are not completely finished stretching. I usally shoot a couple hundred times before i really tune it finely. matter of fact I bought a new string a cable from Stone mountain bowstrings the other day and have them on and ready to rock, just ugly weather outside ...

I am with Tuff ,, A few hundered,,times is always great,, Here in Texas you have to watch what the temp does to your bow,, and strings, I know it sounds funny,, but if you leave your bow in your truck,, on a warm day it will stretch,, not a good thing but it happens. I am gonna throw a karma back at you whitail25,, for giving one to tuff!! Thats how Karma works

Thanks for all the karma flying around!!!!! Yeap leaving a bow in a closed area(like a car,or truck) in the heat of the day when the inside temp can reach over a 100 can have very catastrophic affects on a bows limbs, it will weaken them to a point that they delaminate and kinda self destroy... karma for everybody!!!

I use Winners Choice and once I set mine up I usually get 50 to 100 shots throught it then I fine tune, but honestly out of the string from WC I have none move from when I first put them on.
I do as above I do not leave them in the heat, and I do monitor them, I have marks I make on my cams and measurements as well as an arrow that has a mark on it for when I draw the bow back the tip of my rest lines up with it. So I can check that first and tell instantly if anything has moved.
Note I have never shot more than one year with any string, so I either get new strings or new bos each year. I put thousands of arrows down range, as when I am not hunting I am competing, so they do get the use on them and I just change them out yearly.

I have had great luck with vapor trail vtx strings and cables. In 5 shots they are ready to go. They wont stretch or creep and your peep will be on the money every time you draw it back. Check them out www.vaportrailarchery.com/

Well this one pops up again, and I say again with any and if you want the best I have used its WC, but don't think anyone is better its just one of those things where I bought the strings and time and time again they work, so don't change something that is working.
When I get my strings from them, there is an immediate difference and that it is just tight, I am not sure where it comes from but I know my BOW is right. I have only used a few so I am limited but I know you can not go wrong with WC.

I agree winners choice is good. I just feel vapor trail vtx is just as good or better and doesnt cost as much. Jarrod Fondie formulated this string material and no one else can get it. My bows shoot faster and are quieter than when I had wc strings on them. No stretch and no creep means worry free. You owe it to yourself to give them a look.

I can only say what I have tried and that is WC, I have heard good things about Vapor Trail, I have never used them.
