i shoot a mathews outback , and i have one of those peeps that dont have tubing that turns the peep when you draw, my problem is that it wont stay turned after about 2 shots, i know when the string is new you have to train it to stay in that position, but i have had this bow for 2 years, and i put a new string on it 9 months ago... is my string streched..?? or what, i have also heard that there was a glitch in the timing of the outback that causes them to strech the string... it just sucks cause i dont want to have to remember to turn my peep when i got a deer out in front of me...

I shoot a tube peep for the same reasons. I recently got a new bow and the peep opening diameter is smaller than what I had. In the shop & bright daylight, no problems. In poor light, like dusk, I sometimes see a 'ghost' peep and need come off the string to re-focus my eye, then go back on to take a shot. A friend has told me that the new peep opening is too small for my eye, and my eye is gathering light from around the peep rather than thru it.. Next day off I'm headed back to the shop for the larger peep.
Also, buy a SPARE tube. It is guaranteed to break on you when you are at the furthest, most inconvenient place from getting a replacement..

Brian, I used to have the same problem until I went to a larger hole in my peep sight. I always kept my string waxed and after a short duration of frustration as you stated the problem corrected itself...

Mathews makes some pretty awesome bows. I will give them that. But frankly, I am in no way impressed with the quality of strings that they produce. I would not have one on my bow. A good quality string, will solve most any problem with peep rotation.

Guys I do not recomend a tubing on your string. There have been many people who have gotten eye injurys over using that stuff. It is very easy to correct the peep rotation. First off it means your string has stretched (creeped) to get things back into specks you will need to twist the string up a bit. Do not over do it. A few turns usually gets it back. Now as far as the peep rotation, you just draw the bow back and see where it sits, then adjust by making half twist to the top or bottom, with a little fiddling around you will have it back and lining up everytime. Also if your string has creeped that much, I would recomend a Winners Choice String. They are awesome, as well as many of the other custom string makers. Get it and put it on shoot it about 100 to 200 times then add you peep and start tuning. It will not move again till you change strings.

I'll have to side with Keith. The Winners Choice strings are excellent. Guaranteed not to stretch. I had the same problem with my peep turning on my Matthews string, changed to Winners Choice and the problem went away. I don't recommend a tube for your peep sight. Not only from an injury standpoint, but if you want to increase the noise your bow makes when you shoot, just add a tube to your peep sight. Top Pin
