I just heard from a friend that this will be the first year that New Jersey is going to have a goose hunt where you can take the plug out of your magazine tube! I may even by a magazine extender for this season. Do any of you guys have restrictions on shotguns? Get this, there was a bill proposed here to ban all auto loading shotguns, how idiotic is that?

I'll have to ask him where he got the information from. When I do, I'll let ya know.

i think that the unplugged gun recommendation is from the feds, to reduce the numbers of resident geese, in what most would call an early goose season. in my state Illinois, they had already submitted there five year migratory proposal prior to the feds releasing theres. and with a new law proposal we may be able to use unplugged guns in 08.

I just got another word from my friends dad, we are now allowed to use unplugged guns and now you can hold up to and including 7 shells in your shotgun for the early goose season. I dont know where he gets the info from but I assure you that it is very true. I also found out this. You are allowed to walk down the road to go hunting with you gun uncased and in plain view of the public, if you don't belive me, look it up, The gun just has to have the chamber open with no shells in the magzine or chamber. Now I can go duckhunting by myslef ( I am onl 15 so I can't drive yet)

Hey this is great "local information" that would be GREAT over at the R&S North Eastern Chapter! Do you mind posting it up over there? We're trying to really build these chapter sites this fall with information JUST LIKE this... it's what matters most to you guys on a local level and we need you locals to keep us informed and in the loop!

www.njfishandwildlife.com/news/2007/septgooseregs.htmThere you go there is the regs for it, just incase you guys just want a quick peak at the law, here it is. Oh and thanks for posting it at the Northeastern chapter 4pointer, it's good to get the word out, mabey if it works out well with the geese mabey they might let us blast the crap outta the ducks with the same regs. Also for the early goose season, you are allowed to hunt 1/2 hour after sunset, before you were only allowed to hunt up to sunset.

Well, what you just said right there is a prime example of what we're looking to accomplish with the chapter sites... and that is to facilitate such information on a mass local level that helps us as sportsmen... where it counts most... close to home!

I don't live in jersey, but I get my answers straight from the DNR here. When they reply I print out the reply so I have a record of what they say is the regs. Anby rumors I hear on changes, I write to them for the real thing. Best way to get the true answer is to ask the ones who wrote it.
