This my West Siberian Laika "Danka". She was born in 1993, still alive, but retired from hunting. She treed a lot of squirrels and raccoons. She also took part in killing armadillos helping my Airedale Terriers between squirrel hunting seasons.

No, I have never had or hunted a cur dog. Some of my friends do have curs and I saw them in woods. Laika is my favorite breed since the time, when I lived and hunted in Russia. Laika hunts within a close range; he is silent during chase and open only when animal is bayed or treed. Besides, all Laikas start treeing naturally, 100% of the puppies do.

I have actully trained two miniature pinchers to hunt squirrels the only problem was they were silent, but they didn't get out too far ;D
