Well I decied after her first few weeks of playing with deer hides (she is 9 weeks old) that I would throw a little fun into the game. I grabbed my squirt bottle with some deer blood in it and made a small trail of around 60 feet to a deer hide with a doggie snack on top of it for her. Well I showed her her harness and lead rope and she got excited!!!! Once I got her all hooked up it was go time for the first time...... I took her to where the trail started and let her sniff around and told her to GET THE CRITTER!! and away we went, not fast but she was working it back and forth and made a few mistakes with all the new scents but in the end she found it and I rewarded her and gave her alot of praise for doing a good job, she is still wound tight and a little young but she will make a hell of a tracking dog someday.

Excellent Tuff!
We are starting soem young ones here too! Right now scent, later on will be blood!
Glad to hear you had a good run at it! What breed is your dog? We use DK's here for all types of tracking....Blood, drugs, people and fur!
Where do you get your blood from? We have several slaughter houses nearby....we do get soem strange looks, when we say we need a few 5 gallon pails full!
Working the blood prior to training with it is a pain in the arse..and gets everywhere! but it lasts us a good while!

Sorry for the slow updates....
As for Kaimi, she is doing firne, she is a full blood NALC registered Catahoula from Triple 7 kennels. here colors are hard to find in Catahoulas, Not to mention she has dual glass eyes.
I will see if I can get a pic of her up tonight, and for the blood, we save all we can from every deer we harvest, and I can get hides from our local processor for 2 bucks a piece.
We did run another trail for training purposes the other day and she did great, still wondered a bit but is finding the goodies quicker than before, I'm going to put her on some real blood trails here pretty soon, you always want the first cou[ple of real trails to be easy, so i'm starting her out on some hogs..
