The food that is being recalled stems from one plant in either South or North Carolina, not all plants have this problem.
Diamond has been very helpful in this manner and they are also going to make things right with those who have lost dogs.
THis sort of thing is very common in foods....just a lot of the majors choose to keep it hushed. I think Diamond should be commended for doing all they can!
I for one feed this food, now and still will continue to.

Reo, I work in a grocery store and we got the recall. I never heard of the this brand before. I was just letting everyone aware. Working in the food industry,I see all sorts of recalls. That is why I posted the link to diamond so people could read for themselves. I know that the media gets something and like to run with it.
The post was only meant for for informational purposes.

WCH, I think reo was only tying to profess the fact that he, like I, Are grateful for them coming forward. Considering that purina and other feed makers bought from the same grain broker... It makes you wonder why the others have not come forward with drought affected corn in their products. Since the others use higher percentage of corn per pound... it is likely that theirs is going to harm many more dogs. Everyone should read the diamond info and watch for symptoms and if it matches an ailment in your dogs than START with your feed getting tested for alflatoxin [sp]. Brent

This all happend weeks ago and I did my research on it and found that Purina and Pedigree both had the same recall in jan.and feb. of 2005 also. They just kept it hushed because it was oversea's this time. I feed $200 of Diamond dog food a month. And will continue to feed it. The people who lost there dogs must not have paid much attention to them in the 1st place. Or they would have noticed the blood in the stool, the yellow tent in the eyes and the sluggish in there dogs. The dogs that were taken to the vet at the 1st sign of sickness were saved.

My wife works in a Pedigree plant that makes all canned, pouched or plastic tray type foods but we feed all 3 of our dogs a mix of mostly Pedigree dry with some canned added. I've also been into various pedigree plants and would say this, they're owned by M&M Mars, the candy folks, they run their plants cleaner than most human food plants that I go to, they do a lot of incoming inspections for things like bacteria & aflatoxins and keep test samples from various areas of the plant visibly hanging for re-inspection purposes. I'm sure that Diamond most likely has good operations as well, I've known multiple folks that have been feeding it for years. You'd be surprised to see how much pride some of the pet food guys take in the quality of their operations!

WIC, Brent is right....
It was a great idea that you put it up as a warning....I was not trying to turn your post around at all.....just giving Diamond credit where it was due.
My apologies,
Phil

Cheesehead, thanks for spreading the info bro.....!!!
One good thing about Diamond , is that they were upfront and honest about it, when it happened and I heard about it I went strait to there website and checked it out..and was pleased to see that the plant that ships to my area was un affected by the antifloxin...
