We are real good about not giving the dog human food. I found something that the really like and it's not bad for them. It's called Pup-corn. They come in peanutbutter and cheeze flavors I see that Wally World has started carring them. They also like the snaugges or K9 smokie dog. They get one each when they kennle up. We don't even have to say "kennel up" anymore . We go the cupboard and open the top off and they are both in the kennels. They are pretty good that way.

My aunt (canine psychology freak), suggested this as a way to help a dog get broke of barking due to kenneling (seperation anxiety), get the cow hooves... pack with peanut butter and freeze. They take a half hour to consume the p-nut butter giving the dog time to quit worrying about the confinement or seperation from humans. The dogs love these treats all the time! I asked of a poopy problem and she insists that p-nut butter does not have this affect on dogs. They may not destroy the hoof so it may be refilled... depends on the dog! Brent

One more thing... I feed Diamond High Energy Formula for less $$$ per pound and WAY less perfeeding than purina as it is 16 bucks for a REAL 50 pound bag. The main ingredient is not wheat nor corn but a meat product. ALL SNACKS SHOULD BE HELD TO THE SAME REQUIREMENTS AS YOUR FEED! We believe, in my house, that wheat is the cause of much hair loss and shedding in dogs. Since we cut out all flour based scraps the shed hair from the bull dogs has gone way down. The corn used in dog feed is missing the germ (the only part remotely nutritious to a dog) so it is just filler and that wastes your money as it takes a bigger bowl of kibble to maintain weight. So when looking for treats it is the femur ends... a many month long snack I guess, The chicken leg quarters (raw), some rendered parts from a butchered hog like the feet ears and meat that is to small to mess with. Raw poultry bones are fine for ALL DOGS! It is the cooked bones that are a threat as they break into shards and can cause damage all the way through your dog. Good luck... Brent

The dog I have now has had many medical problems since he was a pup, including stomach problems, so I've had to be very careful with his diet. In the past he got pig ears (made him sick), 'velvet bones' that are made from compressed cornstarch (made him sick), and packaged ham bones, knotted rawhide, and ground compressed rawhide bones (all made him sick). I feel bad that he can't have just any treat but he's a much healthier dog now that I've cut out most of the junk food.
His diet now is Canidae dog food, Iams or Purina lamb and rice 'cookies', and large rolled rawhide that takes him a long time to soften up. He loves to destroy things so I get him cheap stuffed dog toys to rip apart and he likes empty water or soda bottles (he chews the caps off and spits them out).
I might give the cow hooves a try, less the peanut butter as that makes him sick too. Thanks for the tip Hogdogs.

Our little dogs Favorite treat is something called GREENIES that are shaped like a bone and are green in color. They have a mint smell and i assume taste also. They sell at the vets, but we order off the Internet for much cheaper.
The youngest Holly has stomach problems since a pup.And gets a special formula dry dog food from Eukenuba at $17.00 a 5 lb bag.Sure glad she is a small breed. They really don't go for the raw hides or pigs ears.Just like the greenies, and the vet said it was health for them and wouldn't bother Holly's stomach
