That's me with two of 7 from our kennel. It was two winters ago. The one on the left is our Field Champion Kelsey Creek Gabe. Great nose, tight to the line, hunts hard all day, and is truly the definition of man's best friend. We had a good day that day! The bitch on the right was just bred to Gabe a couple of years back and we kept one pup from the litter. She had 8 and only 3 survived. The rest were still born . Our one pup from the litter is showing some good promise and will probably be field trialin her shortly .

Nice!....I sure dont miss those NEw York winters though!
I have only had the chance to hunt with hounds on two occasions. It was awesome to listen to the "Music" A friend of mine was heavily involved in the NHRA in Ohio. He had some really hot dogs!
We have been tossing around the idea of getting a few to play with here too!

Yes it is a very "extreme" way to enjoy the woods. I quit hunting for sport 15 years ago due to lack of challenge. And florida is not prime trophy country except for maybe our hogs. I feel the only challenge to rifle hunting is to find the game, If I see it and want it it is dead. We don't get many long distance shots to challenge my marksmanship. I got the hankerin' to dog hogs when a neighbor bought a domestic live hog for a roast and I talked him into turning it loose in my yard to see if my pet pits (not shown) would be game for it. One was and one was half hearted. I then got on the forums and found many helpful folks! First and foremost was "get dogs for work so you don't hurt your family by bringing home a badly injured or worse yet... a dead pet! I pose an open invitation for any one to come down here to give it a whirl! All that will be asked of you (unless you want more) is to hold dog leads once we start pulling off dogs. This has gotton my son his first hunting exposure as he would get bored in a stand and such. When several guys can get together with pitbulls and baydogs and not have fights shows that these dogs have a higher calling and desire to please! Anyone interested in giving it a try just let me know! That first bay and caught hog will hook you, so be ready to make it a habit of travelling to hog rich country in the future! Most hog doggers are happy to share the experience with a non dogger! texas has many folks that will take a person out as does florida and louisiana and mississippi has a good population to the south at least. It is best described as long periods of walking and listening for a bay followed by many minutes of sheer BEDLUM AND EXCITEMENT. See ya in the woods, Brent
