At 5:50 am I threw some owling off the back porch. I was trying to fire the owls up first. No owls but several booming gobbles. Songbirds hadn't even started yet. The birds were pretty excited until the thick fog set in. Then they all went silent. Its now almost 8 and haven't seen or heard them. Hoping the sun cuts the fog? Yesterday morning had between 10 and a dozen roosted above the house. Today only heard 3.

I haven't seen a turkey in over a month, much less heard one. Maybe I'm not getting up early, early enough. And our season opens this coming Tuesday.

Maybe they are balled up in a valley somewhere close? I'm sure you will find some. Hunting merriams has got to be fun. Just finding them would be the part id like. Best of luck to you. Even if ya don't smoke one. Ya gotta share some pics of the terrain.
