Got out this week to get in one last morning of waterfowl hunting before the bottom falls out of the temps. and everything freezes up big time. Hiked in to a new spot this morning. Got there just a few minutes before the geese started flocking in. After a couple of missed shots at geese, a pair came in with their wings set. After two shots this nice goose fell out of the sky. Dakota didn't really want much to do with the goose. First time she had ever seen one. Decided with the long pack out, that one goose was enough for me. After a lot of walking in the chest waders, and quite a long walk at that, I was pretty happy to be packing only one goose. The geese were still packing in after I left. Was a great to watch them. Lots of mallards coming in also, but I passed on them. Did a feather pull on the goose. Will try my hand at smoking it later on.

Great photo Terry, did someone take this of you or is it set with a timer? Looks like a large Canadian and you will probably have a great dinner there. It's the time of year for it too!

Thanks Steve. Yes it was a pretty good sized Canada. I've never tried one in the smoker, so this will be a first for me. My wife tried her hand at using my camera to take a pic. I put it on the green box in hopes it would be half decent. Had to do a lot of sharpening to make it look OK. Next time its the P&S for her. She just doesn't have the patience to learn how to use the camera. Really nasty out now. Supposed to get a foot of snow tonight. Hopefully it will mostly miss us. Should start to make deer hunting interesting.
