Had a little outing today with my grandson. We took a trip up North to Deer Ridge fire lookout tower. Also picked some huckleberries on the way. Not a great day for taking pics, but I took some anyways. Was very hot, high sun, and quite a bit of smoke in some areas. From this lookout north of my home, one can look into Northwest Montana to the east and British Columbia a couple of miles to the North. They haven't used this tower in 25 years or so, but it is available to rent from the Forest Service. Deer Ridge Tower My grandson and Dakota on the tower. Dakota really disliked the climb to the top and the walk back down. The view to the South. An info poster on the tower An attempt to get a pic of a Ruff Grouse. Huckleberries on a bush Looking back at the tower and the way back down. Was a fun outing today.

Those are awesome, that would be a lot of fun to visit the tower and enjoy the view. How far is the fire tower from your house? Bet the Grandson liked the tower much more than Dakota.

Thanks for the comments guys. Steve, by the time I wind my way to the top of the hill, tower is about 30 miles from the house.
