So yesterday afternoon, I was happening to look out into the backyard. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a hen mallard fly over very low. Didn't think to much of it, as occasionally they'll fly over heading down to the creek. So about an hour later it was still 90+ degrees out, but the dogs really needed to get out. I went to the back door to let them out, when something caught my eye. What, I thought, that sure looks like a duck. Low and behold, that hen was sitting in the backyard, under a big fir tree. I imagine she was hunting some shade. I expect to see lots of different things in the backyard, but a duck wasn't one of them. I watched it for abit, then decided I should try to get a pick of her. So I went and got my camera. When I opened the back door, she spotted me and took off.. Hope I didn't ruin her day. Guess when its really hot like this, one does what one has to to keep cool. Even ducks.
