Not sure if they are stashing their little ones. Then coming down? I'm gonna assume they are because as soon as they are walking off. They get pretty vocal. Lots of clucks, cutts and yelps. And they all walk in the same direction. But hadn't seen them in a few days. Haven't seen any deer in in several days either. But tracks say they are coming at night.

Scott I'm thinking they don't have any little ones but if they are stashing them let us know, that would be a new one for me. Not saying it isn't possible but just never head of it before, but I also don't have any bears in my yard so my birds may not act the same as yours.

Steve your probably right. The reason I'm thinking this is because last month had a hen come down. When she was leaving she started yelping and we could hear kee kee whistles coming from up in the woods. They weren't far away at all. Just couldn't see them. The other thing is a lot of the time when turkeys show, there are several other birds around. Crows, hawks and falcons show here often. And its farely open for them to spot and swoop down. One of the falcons took a bluejay last week. So I guess I'm just being hopeful. That the hens know this and are keeping the poults out of sight until they are big enough? Lol! I think by august the tale will be told? Just being hopeful.

I know what you mean Scott. They are getting much of the hay mowed here and no young turkey showing up as we thought they would. My friend Keith has mowed 500 acres close to my house and all he is seeing is big bucks, not a bad thing but no turkey. So far the turkey that have been seen are adults so we may not be making the recovery that was hoped for.
