Although wild turkeys are a farely tough bird when they get to their first winter. But this constant rain with wind could wipe out a few poults for sure. Pneumonia is a killer of little thunder chickens. Not seeing any hens today hopefully means they are somewhere with their wings spread like a canopy over the poults.

I here your concerns Scott. Last spring and summer we had that scenario. It was pretty hard on the turkeys and moutain grouse. This years looks good for turkeys and uplands.

I think there was probably some poults lost. Saw two hens today and a few doe. No fawns today.

We had another rainy spring, not good for young turkey. Lot of flooded low lands and seems like the hens like these areas, may be because they grow tall grass first along the streams making good cover for nesting. Now it's July 6 and I'm seeing single hens coming out into the hay fields much like they are leaving nests for a bite to eat. If this is the case they must be on their second or third attempt and we are going to have some late hatches. This may be better than seeing several hens together with no chicks, as you can tell I'm uncertain as to what is going on. The hot dry weather has arrived now so they should do OK if they are still hatching or very small.
