Now I'm not much into politics but I think I'm smart enough to realize our country is in pretty desperate straights. To me it seems quite obvious that We The People are no longer in control of the U.S. and probably haven't been for quite some time. If we were I'm quite sure we wouldn't be wasting umteen billions of dollars and be trillions in debt. We wouldn't have sent all our jobs oversees, and we would promote lesser regulations to promote business here. In reality our government seems to promote stringent business regulations, to the point of discouraging business. Now I do call my U.S. Senators, and one of the questions I do through out at them, is. What happens to our country when the government shuts down? What entity retains control? You know what. I haven't found a Senator that will tell me anything. Maybe somewhat out there knows the answer to this. I'd sure like to know.

Terry, I follow the news, Federal politics, and involved in local and State politics quite a bit. Not saying I'm right, but if the Government shuts down they may not know who will be in control as I believe it will go much like Russia did in the Reagen years. In Russia inflation was horrible, the powerful gained more power, the old and weak disappeared, (and I do mean just that) and people did whatever they could to survive. They already know how to survive better than Americans so it will be much worse here. when I say survive I'm talking about raising a garden, butchering a deer or chicken, grinding flour type of survival. Our system is broken badly, I think it going to get much worse. I do not think the government will shut down in the very near future, they are playing games. I also do not think anything will get accomplished in the next 4 years, nothing but constant negative debates. If this is what happens we will probably see a 1929 - 1934 era hit us smack in the face by or before 2016. I'm not going to try to start an argument on this forum on which party you should support but I'll argue the fact that the Government can not be maintained under the current economy, policies, lack of caring for our country and allowing nonsense to rule the days on the floor.
I have a question . After having traveled across North Dakota last fall, staying in Belfield and seeing what the oil is doing for employment, how can our government let the Keystone pipeline be side tracked?
Some of my friends can't understand why I'm so interested in Politics/News. I always have been but 7 years ago my wife's job of 35 years was sent to China, she is now employed at 50% of her old wages. My Bro gave up his business which left me unemployed and since I was contract labor I can not draw a dime. I'm working a small business of my own and it's not easy, the regs are going to make it too high to survive I'm afraid. Also my health insurance has raised 34 % in the last 14 months , my wife carries it and if it rises much more she just as well quit her job. If anyone has any answers I would sure like to hear them.

Another question I thought of after Nov 6th is do the people of our country find outsourcing jobs to make a company more profitable to be worse than not allowing jobs to be created in the first place? Both are pretty tough on an American willing to work! I will be glad to share other things I've seen in the last year that proves our Government is NOT supporting Americans that want to work, I just do not understand what is in their minds either, it seems they want us to fail.

Thanks for your insightful comments Steve. That is pretty much how I see things also. To make matters sadder yet, it seems as most americans are pretty content to be sheep being hauled to the slaughter. In a lot of respects, we are our own worst enemy. People don't really seem to care or even make there feelings known. I guess, like they say, silence is acceptance.

You have said it Terry, answered your own questions, scary isn't it? Lately I've heard people complain about issues that they basically voted for. I think most people watch more movies on TV than news and seem surprised when things turn out as they do.
