Last weekend my niece was married at the family farm, a place she had chosen long before the guy she married. It was quite different than I would have imagined, met people from all over the world. The groom, best man and photographer are all from Russia. There were people there from India, the states of Texas, Virginia, Colorado, Boston Mass and Washington DC. I'm sure there other states represented but can't recall them. As for me I traveled all of 4 miles and took some snapshots with my camera and watched/drooled while the Russian Pro used his 5DII and a bag full of L lenses that I was hoping he would forget and leave behind, never happened of course. This picture shows that the reception was held in the barn after many day of cleaning it turned out nice. Her memories of the barn will be quite different than mine. Mine are of long hot days hauling, stacking small bales of hay and cold, snowy days of hauling it back out to the cows.

Now thats the sort of wedding one will always remember. How very nice to have it at that location. Congrats to your niece on here wedding and picking that location. Thats truly a family affair. Did the visiting folks all speak english, or was there alot of sign language involved? So, how was the Vodka, or did you have more traditional American beverages? Yup, to bad that camera gear found its way back home. Would be great to test out some really great gear like that. Great pics, thanks for sharing.

Kt, we were fortunate that everyone there spoke English, it would have been difficult otherwise. They were a tame bunch, not the partying type I guess, tea and lemonade, no Vodka at all. They did say that back home the Vodka would have came out by the case and no one leaves until it is consumed. They had several desert cookies that were Russian, very dry, tasted good but made you thirsty, bet they were made to go with Vodka. I'm looking forward to seeing the pics from the pro, he used a 24-105 L , 70-200 f2.8 L and a 50 f 1.4 most of the time, was taking pics in near darkness with no flash, I may learn something when I see the results.
Wish my Dad was alive to have been there, no way would he believe there would be a crowd dressed in suits and Tuxedos dancing in front of the catch chute and barn that he built in 1960.
