Custer's house, not bad for the 1870's.Located at Fort Lincoln near Mandan ND Some of the furnishings inside, nice, very nice. Last pic is behind the house, the land he rode across leaving the barracks with the 7th Calvary toward the North West in search of Indians which he found at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. The rest of the story has been written down in the history books for well over a century now. I have covered most of his route in the last 2 years, actually traveled it backwards but it has been fascinating to piece it together in my mind. After seeing the Battle ground in Montana and the Fort he left from in ND, reading about it, listening to the accounts from Indians in Montana I find it to be very interesting. If I had been so interested about history 40 years ago my grades in school would have been much higher, guess I went about this backwards too.

Very nice pics Steve. It never ceases to amaze me, the lifestyle that Custer had when he wasn't chasing across the prairies. His home is quite lavish by anyones standards for that peroid of our history. Thanks for sharing these.
