Set in the burning hills of North Dakota at the edge of Medora this show runs from June 8th to Sept 8th every night of the week. It seats 2853 people and has a great view of the beautiful hills of Western N Dakota and is located across the highway from T Roosevelt Nat Park. It is hard to explain to folks what it looks like and even harder what it sounds like so I took a few shots at different angles to give it a try. The lighting comes from grain bins , one located on each side. A series of ramp sidewalks get you down to the escalator which gets you much closer to your seat. A side view from the East where the steak fondue cookout was held. I find it fascinating to see this built near the small town on a mountain side overlooking the West. Great music, dancing and live horses on stage are part of the show, glad we went back. I'll post a few more when I get time.

Very nice pics Steve. You showed the setup very well. Were the elk out that night. This place is just a wonderful experience to say the least. Thanks for these pics. Will look forward to the musical pics.

This big boy was the only one close enough for a shot and he is not real close, on the bluff across from the seating area. Have some better shots of him I'll work on, trying to see how many points he had. Looks like an 8x8 or more. He would make my heart beat real fast if he showed up while Elk hunting. We are so glad Terry you suggested we stop here a couple years ago, it is a lot of fun to see. If it were a few hundred miles closer to home we would go every year.

Wow Steve! That is a very good pic, considering the time of day and the distance from your camera. Well done Buddy. What a very nice looking elk. You and that canon are working good together. Sure glad you enjoyed this event. It sure is a very unique setting, as well as great cast and overall show. I can't wait to see it again myself. As a side note, in the past they had a rider coming down the hill at the start of the show. He usually had a blue light on him. His name is Lyle Glass. A very fine horseman, and a very accomplished photographer as well. Can't wait to see more.

Well I got these shots of the rider at the beginning of the show as he drove the Elk down the mountain and a rider rode through at the end with the spotlight on him. My pic of him in the dark is blurry, just not enough light at that distance to stop him, especially with the 500 MM. Do you think this is the fella you know Terry? If any of you enjoy some of the pics I post you are welcome, I have much to learn in the photo shooting dept. but am glad to share what I've been fortunate enough to have seen. Most of the pics I will be posting are from Kt's old stomping grounds and he has suggested several of the places I should visit. When I'm in this area I find myself somewhat envious of the folks that live there but I also remember the pics Terry posted of the very deep snow and his long winters, brings me back to reality. I remember Terry posting deep snow shots couple years back and we were buying tomato plants about that time of year

Thanks for the links, very interesting. Lyle has taken some nice shots, the kind I like to see. I do think I remember his name being mentioned before but knew nothing about him. I saw and read a lot in a short time while in ND, it has all became confusing. There sure are a lot of talented folks involved with this production, I bet Lyle enjoyed his part.
