My crazy ass aunt has decided that I shoot to many deer. She thinks because I shoot a deer (or 2 or 3) that I am shooting to many and thats why my Uncle and cousin aren't getting any. I plant the food plots I trim the shooting lanes. I place the stands in the correct locations and I also tell them that they are welcome to hunt my stands after I get my buck. It is not my fault that my uncle spends all his spare time fixing up his children's cars and houses and spends only 2 or 3 days in the woods. Its not my fault that my cousin cant hit the broad side of a barn!! I shoot nice bucks and let all the small ones walk and I only take doe's during the late season (unless they are injured). I know that my uncle doesn't support her way of thinking but a person can take only so much of their spouses bullcrap before giving in!! She wonders why our side f the family gives her the cold shoulder well this kind of crap is why!!! I have gone out of my way to do nice things for my uncle as well as for her. I buy something nice for them every year to show my appreciation for letting me hunt and I offer my services for yard work every year. I hate having to lie to my own family but I am not going to tell them if i shoot deer. The area in Michigan that I hunt is greatly overpopulated with deer and I am doing no harm in taking 1 nice buck and a couple of doe's. If you think I am wrong let me know and if you have any suggestions on how to handle it please feel free to tell me.

a little side note. This is the only property that I have to hunt and its only 40 acres with 10 of that being woods and 1 acre of food plots.

Don't know your situation but here is some food for thought-- the farm I live on is 93 acres, most of it is open pasture and crop land, last year we took 4 deer, numbers seem to be the same for this year. On my East farm, it is 90 acres, half is wooded, half pasture, 4 food plots, we took 16 deer from it, most of them were doe, the numbers are higher this year. On the West farm I manange, it is 160 acres, 1/3 wooded, 2/3 overgrown pasture/native grass, we took 5 deer, numbers are the same for this year. On My cousins farm of 320 acres they took 36 deer, about 28 were doe, the numbers are the same. Seems hard to overshoot deer and actually lower the numbers, even on small parcels of land.
