I have always said I really don't have any desire to go on an African safari hunt. But I have to admit ,lately,I have been watching some hunts on TV. And it is beginning to become intriguing to me. I don't know if I'd like wide open plains hunting. But watching these guides and hunters. Slipping along in some thick cover for cape buffalo or kudu's,lookes like a rush . How do you guys feel about a safari hunt? And would you go if you could?

If I had a top five list of places that I really needed to experience, Africa would be #5.

You know it looks fun, and I'm sure once you're there it would be a blast, but...I really have no desire to go there.
But, that's just me!

Big Whitetailed deer are #1 on my list, then what's next, Moose, Elk, Pronghorn, Caribou,Mule deer, Grizzly or Brown bear in Alaska/Yukon,Salmon fishing in Ketchikan,AK, fishing the outer banks on East coast, Pheasant in S.Dakota and 2 big Gobblers behind my house next month, I have neither the time or money for Africa but for those that like it I say have fun. Too much here at home for me.

I personally love Africa. And as far as the price of hunts go...it is very reasonable. To hunt a bear or sheep in Alaska is in the $10,000, and you can get great packages to go to Africa. My first trip over I had a package of 7 animals for $2300, including everything but airfare. So economically speaking it is more bang for your buck. I also love the atmosphere, the smell, the sounds, the variety of animals you can see. It is wonderful. But I do have to say...my favorite hunt is still mule deer and elk in the good ol mountains of Wyoming. But if you ever get the opportunity to go, take it. It is unforgettable!

Thats very reasonable as far as price. Just getting the time off to go would be the issue.

They've been pushing African packages around here a lot, NWTF has one on auction here this year. I would dearly love to put an arrow in a warthog, smokin a buff could be a bit of fun, and they say bird huntin over there is a riot. I shoulda gone there instead of buyin a new truck. The boys I know who have gone over would go again in a heartbeat. I certainly like reading about it, Ruark, Capstick, some fun reading.
