How many of you folks have taken a bear? Post pics if you got some! Or tell the story of some you have shot.

I haven't ever harvested one before and to be honest... don't really have a desire to. But I'm always open to hunting something new... especially something that can HUNT YOU! lol. But for now.. I'm just enjoying the pics and stories!

Although I never took a bear on my trip to Ontario, my brother took one with good fur, black as coal, weighing 300 lbs. Our hunt was a spur of the moment thing, was invited to go on Monday evening and left early Thursday morning.
Had never given it much thought until the chance came up but I'll say that we enjoyed the hunt very much, made memories that have caused many laughs and stories since. The fella that invited us was a family friend, years later he became my stepfather so we still talk about our bear hunt and how our lives have changed since.
We saw many bears, I had 2 good chances to shoot but passed them as the angle was not good on one,the other one, well I just took too much time thinking and he left, not to return. Some of the things I enjoyed about that hunt was the difference in terrain, lakes, fishing, vast wildernous, no traffic/people, saw one other hunter on our road in 2 weeks, learned many facts about the lifestyle there as I made friends with a Native American that made his living trapping, took hundreds of photos, (all on film). The worst part of the hunt for me was I had got my directions turned around in Dryden Canada when we drove out a circle driveway after eating at a small cafe and I was lost for 2 weeks when we arrived North of Vermillion Bay.
That is a good bear Larry took and enjoyed the picture!

Even though I lived and worked in some very good bear country most of my life, I really never got into serious bear hunting. I did shoot a couple but mostly always enjoyed seeing them, except for the times when they got alittle pesky. You never forget pesky. Anyways, here's a bear my son Chris got a couple of falls ago. Not a large bear, but his first bear. We spot and stalked on this bear up in north Idaho , close to the B.C. border. He made a most excellent shot with his 300 WSM. It was a very good hunt and a very miserable pack out.

I hear my buddy & I are going up west of Drayton Valley after I get back from turkey hunting. I've had some opportunities at some really nice bears, never bothered taking one yet though, maybe this year I'll actually bother to shoot one. I've watched lots of bears, Central B.C., Carbondale river drainage in southern Alberta, Ya-ha Tinda Ranch up on the Red Deer river, Banff, Jasper, NE of Prince George, they are funny creatures, and some kind of strong. I guess I will find out the plan next weekend. We coaxed a small blackie into a bunkhouse, at a mine I worked at about 35 yrs ago, few guys bailed out the windows. They just didn't see the humour in it. Think the bear was more scared than they were, he let out a bawl and busted the door at the other end getting out.
