Picked up a copy of Windows 7 yesterday. Seems to be pretty good once you get through the bugs. Most if not all bugs or glitches are caused by 3rd party software. Why do 3rd party software cause the problems? The 3rd party programs were designed to run off of the previous OS and not Windows 7. It is a lot better that Vista. I gained about a 50 % boost in performance. Programs do load considerably faster. Windows 7 does not seem to be as top heavy as Vista. As for the appearance, it has changed slightly, but there are several new added features. The one thing that stood out to me was the speed. It smokes Vista.
The installation (as far as the upgrade is concerned) states it is rather easy to install. This is correct,, as long as the third party software works with the new Windows 7 OS. In most cases it will not. Fixing the 3rd party problems is not at all easy for the average guy. I had to use the msconfig and look at system and start up properties and eliminate the problems one by one till I found the program that was causing the error. Very time consuming. Overall, I have to say it is pretty good. I give the upgrade an 8 out of 10. I do see problems with driver installs if you were to perform a clean install, or an upgrade from XP. Vista users should not have to many problems transferring over to 7.
One tip, activate the OS copy before installing your other software.
