Saw this on the news. 2,000 Geese to be erradicated. They are gonna trap them and then kill em. I understand the dangers after the plane crash into the hudson. But maybe if they didn't close some of the areas on the outskirts of the city for waterfowling there probably wouldn't be as large of a flock. Upstate where I have been hunting geese for quite a few years, the hunting has changed here. The geese have found safe haven areas not so much in city or town limits. But areas that use to be open to the hunting public were closed to waterfowlers. Perfect example a golf course that is surrounded by wetlands, that was where I started duck and goosehunting, shut down! The state took over the golfcourse some 10 yrs ago. The wetlands were part of the property. They closed it to all hunting. Now there are goose all over the course. And now not only are the golfers complaining but so is the state. I play golf and I 've played golf there for years. And to hear some of my none hunting buddies, who play golf complain all the time is kind of funny. Told em you pay taxes tell the state to open up the wetlands again,we'll put the fear of man in them again. And you won't see 300 geese lined up on the fair ways, and walk through pile after pile of goose crap. Sorry I just think it goes to show what is inevitable when wildlife is not kept in check.

Too be honest,i'm not sure what could be done. With their proximity. i work on aircraft for a living so I know all to well what foreign object damage can do to an aircraft. One feather can bring down the largest of planes. Or at least cause an engine to fail very quickly. Hunting wise I don't know how it could be approached. . It comes from a hunter who likes to hunt them. So of course,i am against any means other than hunting them. But it has to be done someway if they are gettin out of hand. Peoples lives are at stake. just a shame they have to do it this way.

Need to convince them to have a few golf and shoot tournaments, definitely need a powered cart with a trailer to haul blind, ammo & guns.
