WOW! after about a 2 week slump I was able to pull one out last night! I thought someone put a hex on me or something. LOL Night started with me watching this medioker 8 point playing around. Watched him for about a half hour. He would scrape/rub and then kinda dance around.Just having a ball. I cant shoot a buck until I get a doe ( special hunt zone) but I would have only shot him if time was running out. About 4:30 a nice herd of does come in but almost immediatly catch my scent. but I noticed they had a couple of kids hanging out with them so I waited patiently. Earlier I had put out a couple of curiousity scent bombs and if Ihadnt I wouldnt have gotten one of the yearlings. The big does kinda walked of and 1 of the 2 yearlings caught the scent and wandered over to have a look . It was about a 20 yard shot that passed through. I truly thought I had missed because I didnt hear the tell tell thud. The doe wandered off to the rest of the heard and about 1 min later did the death dance!! Sad part was, the other one came over to it and started doing these little soft bleats. I didnt need to see that. All and all it was a good hunt, the deer didnt go 5 yards after the shot and it was a double lunger. Now I can get my buck tag and go after big daddy.

I am over it. Just got done butchering it and thinking about those tasty loins. Thanks guys. Just itchin to get back out there. Thus far this year I have taken 2 yearlings and about a 2 year old doe. I am begining to wonder if I am doing something wrong as far as scent cover. The old does are to smart and I end up getting a shot at the young and stupid. The old does idea of getting rid of the tards in the herd no doubt. One good thing is I guesss the young and stupid taste alot better then the old and crusty. I just want to learn how to improve my game.

Congrats on doe 3. Blew my last chance at getting a doe last weekend, didnt see one deer and was the last weekend to get one in the area. One of these years am gonna learn to do it right off instead of waiting.

they are not chasing here in MO either, but they are gettign pretty curious and pretty aggressive as well. The bigger deer know hwat is coming and they are getting into a frenzy here. Starting to act like dumasses already. Standing on the side of the road, showing up in odd places and the sort. Three bow kills already this year tells me you are doing an awful lot right. I am not familiar with your set-ups or the land, but if you have deer approaching an intersection of trails (very popular spot to hunt) from 2 or three different directions, you are bound to get winded from time to time. IF youare concerned about this try repositioning your stand to play to the predominate fall winds, West and North. I assume you are spraying with a cover scent or a scent eliminator before you head out. I do not think a deer downwind will ever miss your scent no matter what you do unless you are truly fanatical about scent control, and about 99% of us are not.
