I found a good looking area in the field which is tucked way back in the woods. It is a huge field and the area I'll be hunting makes a v shape and juts into the woods a bit. Should I try and hunt this area now or wait on the rut and try anc catch one sneaking through there. There is no for me to plant any sort of food plot.

Hunt it, now and during the rut.

Your dominate buck will most likely stay away from open areas very soon...get him now!

hunt it!! got a good trail running parallel? hunt it, if nothing else set up and just observe for a evening or morning, i bet you'll learn loads,
try to play the wind,( whatever the !@#$ that means) it is finicky along a field, setting/rising sun does things with the thermals, on the way to the stand pick some milkweed pods and release the floaties on a very regular basis, only way you will learn what the wind does as the sun sets/rises.
i have learned, wait too long and you wish you had tried, try and if you blow it, you learned something not to do, don't just not do anything, that's the biggest mistake,
Lets see.. i know i stole this from somewhere on here, "There are those that talk about doing it and those that are doing it"
hunt/observe it and adjust.

get on it man don't hunt it everyday and only when the wind is right and you can hunt it all season long. bucks move in and out and through anyways when the rut is in.so in the rut i would hunt it as often as i liked if it's a good travel area.
