DEER R 2 DARN GOOD

went out hunting this weekend saw 1 doe at 50 yards in the morning and then in the evening saw 1 tom turcky almost shot him but he saw me, 30 min later saw 3 hens pulled back on those and one saw me so all of them left, then 2 huge doe came from behind me 1 to my right and 1 to my left, the one to my left was to far away and the one to my left was at 16 yards, i pulled bac and she saw me, but didt run she stoped at 16 yards brodside and started walking so i whissled and she stoped and she put her head in my direction and I shot she saw the arrwo comming and droped to her stomach and the arrow flew rihgt over her!!! BIGGEST DOE I EVER SAW if she wouldt of droped wede have fresh meat in the freezer!! GOOD DAY THOUGH

Well... that sucks! I don't know why they call it "jumping string" because that's exactly what I've had a couple of deer do... they "ducked string" and/or dropped to the ground at the release. Better luck next time bud!

Them does get big for those reasons, thats why they call it bow huntin Good topic, tonight the current Mrs. Arkansas Don & I went to the woods together, hunted from the ground, took a portable ground blind couple stools and her muzzleloader. Saw 5 deer tonight, out of them 5 1 was a decent buck, grunted him in at 60 yards but was in the thick of a group of sapalings, couldnt get him to come closer, the end of my wifes muzzleloader was shakin like crazy, she had her rifle on a shootin stick and it was shakin like she was shootin off hand
Told her on the way back to the house "ya can buy that at Wal Mart, can ya

Hey hunt4ever, just a question what you have for a back drop, anything or are you silhouetted against the sky?? at least you're seeing game

I had my share of problems tonight as well, had a doe and two fawns coming in at about 60 yards. the doe did the tell tale foot stomp and nose to the sky thing, i thought my scent was going down the ravine to the west, which it was just about fifteen minutes before . i watched these deer work their way in for about ten minutes, when a slight shift in the wind and i was busted, she stomped and walked closer, i don't think she was able to pinpoint the direction as the wind was swirling, it was too calm, just a light steady breeze would have been nice, the wind kept changing, i was hoping the downward thermals would have helped, but all it took was that one little shift..

I mean are you sitting on the field edge and the deer are coming in from the woods to the field and they come up and see you silhouetted against the sky? try walking in from the woods towards your stand. what's behind you?? sky or cover? if it's sky, you're a silhouette, and when you move it is so obvious.

think of of this way a crow is flying across the sky, you can see it plain as day, til it drops down to the tree line and disappears, then once it is above the tree line it is visible again, you can have a hill be your backdrop, or even the forest, but if a critter walks up under you and they see a silhouette of a moving human, you're not going to get a shot.

I'm just trying to help, i wish i was as far along as you at your age, i didn't get started till i was twenty-two, so man your gonna be real good, i mean really good.

ooooo ic i am on a field edge with woods behind me and the sky is in front of me and most deer come from behind into the field to eat corn i have set out.......thanks phishy
