Man I'm glad I took today off. The weather is perfect. The wind is in my favor and the hush of an approaching sunrise allows me to relax and enjoy this moment of "peace". I light up a cigarette and wait. BLLLLAAAAMMMM!!!! Holy Sht... what was that?? How could someone be shooting with this little amount of daylight?? Are the deer moving already? Man, that sounded close too! Ah well, wait for the sun to come up, that's when I'll see the big bruiser I've been dreaming about.
Ah, here comes the sun. I can now see the individual limbs of the trees in front of me. Oh... I hear leaves crunching, better get ready just in case. It's getting closer, closer, closer... damn... it's a squirrel. Why I oughta.... ok, he's in my sites now, bring the gun down... a squirrels not worth shooting and disturbing the area if there's a buck close by. Besides this slug would tear his little ass up. Oh crap, the squirrel saw me move now, man he's loud! He's tellin the whole world where I'm at!! C'mon guy... let it go, I could have shot ya but I didn't, doesn't that mean something to you?? C'mon... SHUT UP ALREADY!! Ok, seriously, you're startin to piss me off now. Man, no deer is gonna come through here with that chatter! You're done little guy... BLAM
!! Sht!!! I missed him! How could I miss, he's only 20 yds from me! Well, at least he's gone now.
Ok, it's time to let the woods settle again. I think I'll take a little nap while the woods calm down. Zzzzzzz.
BLAAMMM!!! Holy sht!!! What was that?? Man that sounded close too! Catch some movement to my left up in a tree only about 50 yds... It's another hunter! What's he doin so close to me? Looks like he's getting down... aww man... he's got two deer down! A buck and a doe... both are HUGE!! Oh look! There's a huge scrape right in front of my stand and a ton of fresh rubs. It wasn't there this morning. Must have been made while I was sleeping... damnit all! What the heck is going on today??
Hey Mister.... what happened?? When did you get those deer?? His reply...
"Well, I got the doe at first light. I could barely see. All I saw was a light up in the tree you're in as you were lighting a cigarette and I was about to leave when I saw how close you were. But then the smoke from your cigarette must have spooked her right to me. I could clearly see that she was a big doe and I had her in my sites so I shot her. She dropped right in her tracks. So I waited since she wasn't going anywhere. Then, after a little while I was just about to get out of my stand to field dress her and I hear you shoot. So I figure this spot must be a good 'un so I stay put. I didn't see you get up to get whatever you shot at so I figured it might be still around. Well, I sat for a few more hours in hopes of seeing something and was just about ready to call it a day and then I hear a strange noise. At first it sounded like a buck grunting... but it was too long and dragged out to be a buck grunt and then after listening a bit more I realized it was coming from your direction and sounded like snoring. I could barely see you in the tree and could tell that you were sleeping. So outta nowhere in comes this huge buck. He walked right into your snoring. Must have thought it was another buck in the area and came to the grunting. He sat in front of your stand for what seemed like and hour or so just scraping away and rubbing on just about every tree there was. You had that buck all sorts of worked up. Guess since he couldn't find the deer that was making all those grunting noises he was getting frustrated. Then, all of a sudden I hear you pass gas. That loud ass fart you ripped sure spooked the heck out of that buck and he came running right at me. So I pulled up my gun, put my sites on him and dropped him right in his tracks right here next to my doe I shot! Man it was a great day in the woods today! You wanna give me a hand draggin these deer out?"
I couldn't believe it... this guy got both deer that should have been mine! I thought to myself ... this A Hole shoots my deer and has the nerve to ask me to help him drag them out?? Oh well, guess that's how it goes.
