![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v358/huntersbarn/1971.jpg) I was diggin thru a folder of stuff my Mom gave me and was happy to find this old picture. The rack is long lost in my many moves as a young man. It was 1971 in N.J. opening day. I was 12. Dad put me on stand and said "when you see one don't let him get away". At the time Buckshot was all you were allowed to use. By early afternoon my mind was wondering {as a young mans will} When I heard a twig snap and he steped into an opening I was watching 20 yds. away. I leveled the borrowed old 12 ga and put the bead on him. I squeezed the shot off and he went down still thrashin {i never killed a deer or saw one killed yet} So I put the bead on him again and squeezed it off. He hadn't moved a foot, but was still twitchin so I puts the bead on him again and blasts him again. Now he stoped moving. At the time I didn't know he was dead with the first shot...an Dad said don't let him get away...LOL...When we got him home we found out that out of a possible 36 "00" buckshot pellets 35 had hit the mark. {36 if you count the one thru the ear} Dad says why did you shoot the Sh*t outta him an I says, You told me not to let him get away. We got very little meat from those front Quarters. That began a life long adiction to hunting...a monkey I never want to get off my back.
