I always hunt in the rain for deer. And your buddy is wrong, deer do move in the rain. I see more deer in the rain than I do when it's nice. I was hunting one year, it was doe season, back then we had doe season for three days after buck season. Anyways it poured the first two days but I went anyway. The second day I got one around noon time just sneaking around. I was soaked to the bone, but I got one.

I agree... some of the best hunting can come from rain. This is especially true for turkey hunting as well. More than likely I'll see more birds in the fields because the woods are damp and make it hard for the turks to hear an approaching predator so they make their way to the open fields so that they have a vantage point.
Now for deer... anything goes. I've seen them in rain, snow, sunny days, overcast days.... you name it, I've seen it. One thing that does seem to make them "hold up" though is warm weather or a "heat spell". Seems that they like to bed down during the hotter days in the cool shade and then come out later in the evenings towards dusk. That would be the only time I would possibly think about staying in, but then again, if I can go, I'm there!

I like to hunt ducks & geese on rainy days! I wont let the rain or snow hold me back from hunting Whitetails either but I don't ever remember killing one in the rain... I've killed 2 when it was snowing so hard that I looked like a snow man sitting up in a tree. One with a bow & one with a muzzy. In the area I hunt, the only thing that really holds them back on movement is the wind. They don't seem to move much at all if it's windy and that would include windy/rainy or windy/snowy. If the rain/snow is coming down easy, they move.

I'd believe that Tim. I always liked hunting bunnies in the snow for the same reason. Heck, you didn't even need a dog, you could just follow their tracks in the fresh snow & bust them all day long...

I love to hunt in the rain, specially in a soft drizzle after a heavy downpour. Nicest bucks I have ever seen were during those times.

I like to hunt in a steady rain near scrapes, I believe that the Bucks want to keep them fresh aournd the rut and the rain washes them clean. I see a bit more activity in the rain as long as the wind is not howling. High temps and winds are the owrst!

Lightening is bout the only thing thats stops me from hunting.Actually the rain gives us an advantage even. One of the better time i think to still hunt.

I try to hunt every day of the season, rain or shine. I see far less deer activity during the rain. The only excetion is during the pre-rut when they seem to run right over to there primary scrapes right when there is a break in the rain.

Bring on a steady drizzle or a light to moderate rain.....I've seen plenty of deer during these conditions. I've set through downpours knowing that they were passing....as I've only seen one doe moving in a downpour while on stand.....and she was moving right along.....probably looking to settle in for some TV herself!!
