Hello, With the high cost of ammo, and the high volume of shooting I've been doing, I've decided to get back in Re- Loading. (I used to re-load for my .44 about 20 years ago). I had an old single stage Lyman press that I let go when I got out of the hobby. My question is, now that I shoot mostly .44, .45acp, .45colt, and .223, should I go with one of the newer progressive presses? I looked at an RCBS Pro 2000, is that as good as a Dillon? TIA

i used a single stage for 10 yrs. didn't see the need to spend the extra money for a progressive. boy was i stupid got a dillon square deal (for pistols only), man those things work great and fast. then i got the 550 for rifles. they are worth the money you can get them on ebay all the time, and there no BS warenty is not BS, they are great people to deal with good luck todd

I've never used a dillon press, but I've never had a problem with RCBS.

I'm not a big fan of progressive presses, except for my shotgun, but I use a turret press set up, which you can use in either single or progressive if you like.

Well as I always loaded for hunting, (handgun), Speed was not what I was looking for-- Some years back I upgraded to a REDDING TURRET press, and replaced all my dies with Redding I could. Glad to say, I saw this problem with ammo coming years ago, and am stocked up with enough to last the rest of my life, including 22's ` As to this new thing of turning in all your old ammo?? Yeah, right.

I use a single stage press and have reloaded a lot. Speed has never been a priority to me when reloading.
